Up and running in three steps

A few minutes of setup, then Vigil keeps watch every time you play.

    Install Vigil

    Download it for Windows, macOS or Linux and open it. It finds your World of Warcraft Logs folder on its own.

    Turn on combat logging

    In game, enable Advanced Combat Logging under System, Network, then type /combatlog each time you log in.

  3. III

    Pair it with your guild

    On your guild's site, open Vigil and choose Connect Vigil companion for a pairing code. Enter it in the app and you're set.

Built for raid night

Everything you need to learn from each pull, without alt-tabbing out of the fight.

  • Uploads on its own

    Each finished fight goes to Vigil on your guild's site, retried if your connection drops. You choose who sees it: just you, your officers or the whole guild.

  • Callouts as you play

    Missed procs, idle time, dropped buffs and capped rage show up the moment they happen, alongside a live score, GCD use and uptimes.

  • Boss by boss reviews

    Every pull becomes a report: score, rotation priority, uptimes and cooldowns, a timeline and an estimate of what perfect timing would have done.

  • Made for a second screen

    A slim window beside the game, or a compact view you can pin on top. It stays out of the way until something needs your attention.

  • Reads the log, nothing else

    Vigil never touches the game client. Fights are analysed on your computer and only the report is sent. Your pairing is kept in the system keychain.

  • Free and open source

    Vigil is free and licensed under the AGPL-3.0, like the rest of Guildbook. Anyone can read the code and see exactly what it does.

Questions

macOS says Vigil can't be opened

This build isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS stops it the first time. Open the disk image and drag Vigil to Applications. Then right-click (or Control-click) Vigil in Applications, choose Open, and confirm Open.

On macOS 15 and later, try opening Vigil once, then go to System Settings, Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway. Until builds are notarized, Vigil can't update itself on macOS; it tells you when a new version is out.

Windows says it protected my PC

The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may warn you. Click More info, then Run anyway. Updates after that install on their own.

How do I run it on Linux?

Download the AppImage, make it executable (right-click, Properties, or chmod +x in a terminal) and open it.

Can Vigil get my account in trouble?

Vigil only reads the combat log file the game writes to your Logs folder. It doesn't inject anything, automate anything or talk to the game. The optional Vigil addon, which you can install from the app's settings, is an ordinary addon.

Where do I get a pairing code?

Sign in to your guild's site, open Vigil, then Connect Vigil companion, and create a code. You can also click Open in the companion to pair in one step. Each computer shows up on that page, where you can revoke it. Not in a guild on Guildbook yet? Find one or create your own.

First public beta of Vigil, the Guildbook desktop companion for WoW: Forever. It tails your combat log on a second screen, shows the current fight live and uploads each finished fight to your guild's Guildbook site.

These builds are unsigned.

  • macOS: open the dmg and drag Vigil to Applications. The first time, right-click Vigil and choose Open, then Open again (or System Settings, Privacy & Security, Open Anyway). Unsigned Mac builds can't update themselves; Vigil tells you when a new version is out.
  • Windows: when SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway.
  • Linux: chmod +x the AppImage, then run it.

Setup

  1. In the game, enable Advanced Combat Logging (System > Network).
  2. Type /combatlog in chat to start logging.
  3. On your guild's Guildbook site, open Vigil, choose Connect Vigil companion, and enter the pairing code in the app.
